Three course specialists to keep a close eye on at Newcastle on Monday 👁️

Newcastle‘s run in has a very sharp incline, which wouldn’t suit every horse, as some prefer flatter tracks. The surface can also be an issue for some so it’s often wise to pick horses with proven records at the track. We’ve found three such horses that are set to run on Monday for you to consider. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

4.15 Newcastle

Award Dancer has won two of his four starts here at Newcastle and finished third once. His last course win came off this very mark in October last year and that’s certainly a good sign. It was good performance when winning over 1m6f at Redcar last time out and he’s been pushed up 3lb as a result. The extended 1m4f at this stiff track is therefore likely to suit and he should be there or thereabouts.

7.00 Newcastle

Pop Favourite clearly likes it here as all bar one of his five career wins have come at Newcastle. The most recent of those came over this trip on his penultimate start, where he scored off a mark of 51. He was less than two lengths behind the winner off a 1lb higher mark over course and distance last time out. On that evidence, he should be right in the mix here.

8.00 Newcastle

Another Angel has raced here a whopping 45 times, so it’s fair to say this nine-year-old knows his way around. An eight-time course winner, he has also finished second or third a further 13 times. His most recent course win came in impressive fashion as he bolted up by five lengths back in May. Antony Brittain’s charge has struggled with his mark the last twice but the handicapper is beginning to relent. Another big run could be on the cards.
