There are many factors to consider when trying to pick out winners and some have more bearing than others. Course form is always useful to have, as it’s good to know that your selections have performed well at the track before. We’ve picked out three such horses across the seven live ITV races on Saturday and combined them into a juicy treble. Royale Pagaille (7/1, bet365) absolutely love it at Haydock so the track and trip are perfect for him. Venetia Williams’ 12-year-old has won five times at the track, including two Betfair Chases and this race twice. The veteran is still operating at a high level, as shown by his second in the Betfair Chase in November, and he’s well set to run yet another big race at his favourite place.
Etalon (13/2, bet365) is a five-time winner over fences and the most recent of those successes came here over a slightly shorter trip. That was the Dan Skelton-trained gelding’s only visit to the track so far, giving him a 100 per cent record. It’s hard to argue with a 5lb rise off the back of that performance and it’s unlikely to prevent him from going close once again.
Jonbon (4/1, bet365) has a good course record everywhere really, as he hasn’t finished outside of the first two in 25 races under rules. Nicky Henderson’s 10-year-old is unbeaten in two starts at Ascot and he was an easy winner of this race last year. Il Etait Temps might prove to be a tough nut to crack but Jonbon will be there or thereabouts.
