‘The step up in trip will suit’ – four strong fancies form Group race ITV Lucky 15

We have yet another action-packed Saturday with lots of quality action on offer. Eight races will be live on ITV and that includes two Group 1s and a couple of Group 2s. We’ve picked out our strongest fancies in each and combined them into a juicy Lucky 15 for you to consider. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 Newmarket

Wimbledon Hawkeye is the highest rated horse in the race, which makes him the one they all have to beat on official figures. It’s easy to see why as he was a good second behind The Lion In Winter in the Acomb Stakes at York. Strong at the finish that day, the step up in trip looks likely to suit and a big run is anticipated.

2.25 Newmarket

Babouche got the better of subsequent Group 1 winner Whistlejacket when winning the Phoenix Stakes and she remains unbeaten in three starts. Ger Lyons’ filly is very difficult to oppose on that evidence and a similar effort should be more than enough.

2.35 Curragh

Trinity College looks like the strongest of Aidan O’Brien’s two runners and he has an unbelievable record on this race. This son of Dubawi is improving with every run and absolutely destroyed the field when winning by 12 lengths last time out. A similar effort is likely to be enough here but his profile suggests further progress is on the cards.

3.00 Newmarket

Whistlejacket is a powerful-looking colt who recovered from defeat in the Phoenix Stakes to win the Prix Morny at Deauville last month. This strong traveller dealt well with soft ground when winning a Listed race here in May and shouldn’t be too inconvenienced by conditions.
