Newmarket‘s July Festival kicks off on Thursday and four of the seven races are live on ITV. Ryan Moore is always a name to look out for and he’s been better than ever so far this season. Ballydoyle’s stable jockey has a terrific book of rides on Day 1. We’ve combined his rides in the four ITV races into a Lucky 15 which could provide substantial returns. Tower Of London (2-1, bet365) is a very progressive horse and the return to Group 3 company looks justified here. Aidan O’Brien’s charge was a comfortable winner of a Leopardstown Listed race on his penultimate start and bolted up in a handicap over a similar trip at Down Royal last time out. Very much the one to beat here, victory could be on the cards.
Mountain Bear (5-1, bet365) took a big step forward from his debut to get off the mark at the Curragh last time out. There should be plenty more to come as Aidan O’Brien’s two-year-olds tend to improve plenty with each run. This doesn’t look like the strongest renewal of the July Stakes and there’s every chance he can get his head in front once again.
Washington Heights (11-2, bet365) has filled the runner-up spot in each of his last three runs. This includes a good run behind subsequent Commonwealth Cup-winner Shaquille on the Rowley Mile in May. He was just denied at York last time out and a well-deserved return to the winners’ enclosure could be on the cards, despite a 4lb rise.
Grand Alliance (14-1, bet365) possesses plenty of ability but doesn’t always put his best foot forward. Charlie Fellowes’ four-year-old was a good winner of a competitive Group 3 at Newbury on seasonal debut but failed to follow up in the Hardwicke Stakes last time out. Connections couldn’t have booked a better jockey here and the horse has the ability to spring a surprise.
