The bookies won’t want this 10/1 Aidan O’Brien treble to land at York on Wednesday

Excitement is beginning to build as one of the highlights of the summer will soon be upon us. York hosts the four-day Ebor Festival and it kicks off on Wednesday. Day 1 provides the race of the week, in the shape of the Juddmonte International, and the supporting card is excellent. Aidan O’Brien sends over a strong team and it’ll be a bad start for the bookies if this treble lands on Wednesday. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.25 York

Italy (6/4, bet365) showed loads of potential when winning on debut at Leopardstown in May but it was clear that there was loads of room for improvement. The second has boosted the form by winning a Listed race since and he was a little unlucky when second in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes. A similar performance should put him in the mix but further progress can’t be ruled out.

3.00 York

Lambourn (4/7, bet365) probably hasn’t been given the respect he deserves for winning both the Epsom and Irish Derby. It’s a significant achievement that doesn’t happen every year and the ratings suggest his 5lb penalty won’t be enough to stop him. The Arc or the St. Leger could be his future options but he should be winning this beforehand.

3.35 York

Delacroix (15/8, bet365) won a couple of Derby trials at Leopardstown in very good style but flopped badly in the Derby. Perhaps he’s a 1m2f specialist however, as he bounced right back to his best to win the Eclipse at the expense of Ombudsman last time out.  There’s clearly not much between the two so a follow-up success could well be on the cards.
