The American angle: four U.S.-trained horses to look out for at Royal Ascot 🗽

Royal Ascot is now less than two weeks away and the excitement is building up. The best horses in the world are set to clash at the five-day meeting which is full of international appeal. With that in mind, Liam Bramall has picked out four U.S.-trained contenders that should make a big splash when the royal meeting arrives. King’s Stand Stakes

Golden Pal is perhaps the most high-profile runner from the US. His trainer Wesley Ward recently described him as the best he’s ever trained. Ward is no stranger to Royal Ascot success so that is high praise indeed. This race is for the fastest horses on the planet and it’s no wonder that this speed-freak is favourite for the race. He won his prep race at Keeneland by a whopping four-and-a-quarter lengths and should be primed and ready to fire.

Windsor Castle Stakes

Trainer Wesley Ward is a two-time winner of this race and he has another exciting juvenile to set loose. No Nay Hudson showed good speed when making all to win his maiden on debut. The four-length winning distance was pretty significant bearing in mind the trip was only an extended 4f. It’s likely that he’ll be trying to make all again at a blistering pace.

Queen Mary Stakes

Love Reigns looked like a hugely exciting prospect when obliterating the field in her maiden win at Keeneland. A winning distance of just shy of 10 lengths is impressive in any race but when the trip is an extended 5f, it’s unheard of. She could be anything but certainly looks capable of running a huge race and will be expected to.

Platinum Jubilee Stakes

Campanelle is a two-time Royal Ascot winner having won the Commonwealth Cup last year in contentious fashion after crossing the line in second and also won the Queen Mary as a juvenile. Her record suggests she loves it at Ascot and surely another huge run is expected this year. She won her prep race comfortably and it’ll be great to see her back.
