John & Thady Gosden and Aidan O’Brien have made a cracking start to Royal Ascot. The Gosdens had a double on Tuesday, whilst the latter had a double on Day 1. This has lead to them becoming joint leading trainers at the festival so far this week.
The form of the Gosden and O’Brien yards spells doom for everyone else. We’ve combined their four best chances into a massive accumulator on Day 4 and the bookies will be on high alert. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Little Big Bear (11-10, Boylesports) was an awesome juvenile, winning a Group 1 over 6f by seven lengths. Despite flopping in the 2000 Guineas, he returned to form with victory in a Group 2 upon returning to 6f. The easily dispatched third boosted the form by winning the King’ Stand on Tuesday and O’Brien’s charge is going to be hard to beat.
Meditate (5-1, William Hill) has a little bit to find with Tahiyra, on the evidence of her runs behind Weld’s filly in both Guineas. She’s a Grade 1 winner in her own right, having won at the Breeders’ Cup in November and she undoubtedly has the ability win a race of this stature. O’Brien is in fine form this week and she could well be better than ever here.
Coppice (11-2, William Hill) began the season with a disappointing effort in the Nell Gwyn over 7f at Newmarket. All of the Gosdens runners were needing their first runs badly at the time and she won as she liked at Kempton last time out. This is her handicap debut and she could well be better than this opening mark of 97.
Arrest (3-1, William hill) failed to fire in the Derby but that performance isn’t an accurate reflection of his ability. On the form of his victory at Chester on his penultimate start, he’s the best horse in the race. A return to that level of performance could provide Frankie Dettori with another Royal Ascot winner.
