Shergar Cup: Four ITV Outsiders on Saturday including a 28/1 shot in the finale

The Shergar Cup adds an element of interest to an otherwise quiet Saturday from a quality point of view. Ascot hosts a six-race card and all the races will be live on ITV4. We can expect some competitive racing and with that in mind, we’ve selected four outsiders at substantial prices that can significantly outrun their odds. 1.35 Ascot

Dream Composer (14/1, Paddy Power) won the Dash at Epsom earlier on this season and he looks ridiculously overpriced on that evidence. Whilst he was disappointing at Goodwood when last seen, his best form tends to come over the minimum trip so we can expect better here. He wasn’t beaten far when fourth over course and distance off this mark since, and another big effort shouldn’t be ruled out.

3.20 Ascot

Aramram (12/1, William Hill) has only had four starts to date and his impressive win on seasonal debut at Nottingham in May is certainly a standout effort. A couple of subsequent winners have come out of the race and it earned him a mark of 90. Richard Hannon’s colt has been dropped 2lb for finishing fourth at Windsor on handicap debut and should be going close here.

3.55 Ascot

Champagne Prince (14/1, William Hill) looked very smart when winning his first two starts by wide margins and has admittedly been a bit disappointing in two runs so far this year. Down the field on handicap debut at Newmarket last month, the handicapper has dropped him 5lb since and Jane Chapple-Hyam’s colt deserves another chance or two.

4.30 Ascot

Spirit Catcher (28/1, William Hill) showed some fair form for Charlie Johnston last term and managed to win by over five lengths at Ripon last August. He followed that up with a really good third at York off this very mark and a return to form may well be on the agenda here.
