‘She impressed at Naas’ – Liam’s three Ebor Festival ante-post best bets
York’s Ebor Festival is one of the highlights of the racing calendar and you can view our betting guide now. Liam Bramall has selected his three best bets for the big meeting and they include an unfairly overlooked runner in the Gimcrack Stakes. Lowther Stakes
Heavens Gate (11/4, bet365) was an impressive winner at the Curragh in May and the second won a Listed race by four lengths when last seen. Aidan O’Brien’s filly did the job well in a valuable 21-runner event and she impressed in that race at Naas. She looks well up to winning races at Group level and a big run could well be on the cards here.
Yorkshire Oaks
Port Fairy (25/1, bet365) showed a terrific attitude when winning the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. It’s hard to say what went wrong in the Irish Oaks last time out but that effort was clearly too bad to be true. That run was by no means an accurate reflection of her ability and she can get back on track this time around.
Gimcrack Stakes
Big Mojo (7/1, bet365) finished second on debut at Beverley and it was a bold move to throw him into Group 3 company at Goodwood after that. It proved to be a successful gamble however as he kept on well to claim victory in the Molecomb Stakes. Getting off to a slow start that day, he’s still learning on the job and the step up to 6f shouldn’t be an issue.
