3.00 Newbury: This has been a good race for the Nicky Henderson camp in recent years – they’ve won two of the last six, including twelve months ago. This year they run THE CASHEL MAN, who bolted-up over this course and distance last time out. Yes, the Philip Hobbs-trained Tyme Hill looks the one to beat and The Cashel Man will need to step up again now upped in grade, but he did it well from the front last time out and might just be hard to peg back in this softer ground.

3.15 Leicester: The Nigel Twiston-Davies runner – BALLYELLIS – will be popular here after a string of solid efforts already this season – he’s finished in the top two in all of his last seven runs. The yard also boasts a 25% record with their hurdlers at the track and it’s also interesting that four of the last seven winners of this race were ridden by claiming jockeys – Jordan Nailor, who takes a handy 5lbs off, gets the leg-up.

3.35 Newbury: The champion jockey, Richard Johnson has a decent 23% strike-rate when riding over fences at the track so his mount – TIDAL FLOW – gets the nod here. This six-year-old was an easy winner at Uttoxeter last time out in heavy ground and a 7lb rise for that success looks fair. The slightly longer trip will pose no issues either and he’s also a course winner (hurdles) at Newbury.
