Lord Bertie could take all the beating from a lovely plum draw for trainer William Haggas, but at the prices, Liamarty Dreams (25-1) looks far too big for the Karl Burke yard. The gelding was beaten out of sight at Thirsk last time but was reported to be lame. This front runner has a nice draw in stall five so if he can get out and get a lead, he is a danger if he’s fit.
I think Tony Carroll’s Youarenotforgiven (16-1) won back-to back at Leicester and Newbury before running below par at Brighton after that. If he can bounce back to his prior form, he would have to have a decent chance in this and his price is juicy enough to be worth a small flutter in my eyes.
This could turn out to be a wild stab in the dark but I think it’s well worth taking on Military Orders as Charlie Appleby has not had a good season by his high standards. Ralph Beckett’s Lone Eagle could be the one at shorter prices but running in the same colours, Thanks Monica (25-1) could surprise a few. She won a pair of handicaps by wide margins last year and ran well in a French Listed race last time.
