Course form can be absolutely crucial when looking for a winner. If you know your way around a place, you are going to have an advantage over somebody who has never been there before. The same applies to horses – knowing your way around a venue is always a big advantage. Adrian Wall has picked out two former course winners running at Sandown Park Racecourse on Saturday. The double returns great odds of 16/1 at the time of posting. Best of luck if you have a play.
Live In The Dream made Adam West’s dreams come true when causing a shock in the Nunthorpe last year. Sent off 28/1 on the day, the gelding produced a thundering turn of foot to win the Group 1 prize. Sent off a fairly short price for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita in November, he lost nothing in defeat when beaten just over a length into fourth. He needs to bounce back from a poor run at Haydock last time, but he’s a course and distance winner and he should have the class to burn off his rivals if he can produce his best.
The fact Ryan Moore has been booked to ride Roger Varian’s Perotto could be a tip in itself and it’s no surprise to see this boy at the head of the market in a tough handicap. He went down narrowly in third in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last time and given that was his first start of the year, he can only improve on that. Only up 1lb, he’s a perfect two from two at Sandown and will go well.
