Navan was a happy hunting ground for Ryan Moore last season. Arguably the best jockey in the world, he rode seven winners from just 11 rides at the track. He also rode two seconds and third, which means only one of his rides failed to hit the frame. Moore rides two at Navan’s meeting on Wednesday for regular boss Aidan O’Brien and they’re both fancied to go well. The Brit will be looking to pick up where he left off and return to the winners’ enclosure. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Gooloogong has only seen the racecourse once so far. He finished fifth on debut at Dundalk in November and not a lot went right for him. It was always going to be tough after a very slow start and he wasn’t helped by being carried left in the final furlong. O’Brien’s juveniles tend to improve significantly after their first starts and as he’s a three-year-old now, he should be stronger and wiser. You can expect him to leave that form well behind him here, as long as he doesn’t need the run.
Ballsbridge makes his debut here and if his pedigree is anything to go by, he could be one to keep an eye on. He’s out of dual Group 1-winning filly Happily and by an interesting Japanese stallion who is the sire of ex-international superstar Almond Eye. Sending Galileo mares to Japanese stallions is working well for Coolmore in recent years and they have had classic success with the likes of Saxon Warrior and Snowfall. Very few would be surprised if he was to get off to a winning start here.
