Godolphin’s man man, Charlie Appleby, has been in fine form in recent weeks and is operating at a strike-rate of 57 per cent, with four winners from his seven runners. That’s certainly not to be sniffed at and all his runners are worth keeping an eye one with that in mind. Appleby is sending three runners to Kempton on Wednesday and all of them have huge chances. Pierchic was slow to get going when making her debut at Wolverhampton last month but kept on well to finish third, despite having no chance with the impressive winner. The daughter of Palace Pier showed a terrific attitude in order to get off the mark at Chelmsford next time, when scoring by a nose. More will be needed under a penalty here but she’s entitled to progress and probably will.
Beccadelli has performed with credit in all three starts to date and was beaten less than two lengths when fourth at Newmarket on his penultimate start. He probably wasn’t suited by the drop back to 6f at Lingfield last month and the return to 7f is likely to suit. Switching to handicaps looks like a sensible move and an opening mark of 81 is reasonable.
Nation’s Hope could hardly have been more impressive on debut over course and distance and he absolutely trounced them. Travelling strongly throughout, he easily put five lengths between himself and the runner-up and won in the style of a very good horse. A similar performance would be more than enough and you can’t rule out improvement on just his second start here.
