Red-hot Joseph O’Brien sends one horse all the way to Uttoxeter on Sunday

Dual-purpose Irish trainer Joseph O’Brien is in red-hot form at present and interestingly sends one horse all the way to Uttoxeter Racecourse on Sunday to run in the opening juvenile hurdle on the card over the trip of two miles! Let’s find out more about the Irish raider below and best of luck if you follow.

1.37 Uttoxeter

The horse in question is Dignam, who is no stranger to British shores, having won his hurdles debut in style at Newton Abbot when last seen just seven days ago. Sent off the 1/4 favourite on the day, the three-year-old son of Sea The Moon never looked in any bother from the outset and duly landed the odds under JJ Slevin, who will maintain the partnership here on Sunday. It must also be noted that this is Slevin’s sole ride of the day too before he heads back home for the Galway festival.

Dignam was very decent on the Flat and had a mark in the 90s, but he looks the sort who will now thrive over timber. Interestingly, it’s a former Joseph O’Brien inmate who might pose the biggest threat to the selection as Junkyard Dog will make his first start for Iain Jardine here. He was last seen finishing third at Tipperary on his hurdles debut and also won on the Flat, although he has a good deal to find on Flat figures against the likely favourite.

This is O’Brien’s first ever runner at Uttoxeter and if Dignam can brush up in the jumping department, he should be more than good enough to make it two from two over obstacles.
