Scottish Greyhound Derby Antepost Tips

The 2019 RPGTV Scottish Greyhound Derby gets underway at Shawfield this evening with thirty six top class greyhounds vying for supremacy. Legends of the past gone on to win this prestigious event with the like of Some Picture, Ballymac Eske and more recently The Other Reg getting their paws on the coveted trophy. As always, we have greyhound tips live on the site every night by 6.00pm seven days a week including tonight from Shawfield live on RPGTV. Our greyhound tipster David Mitchell has analysed the entries and these are his thoughts:

Droopys Expert 12/1

Expert is a dog we know well and followed his career closely since purchasing his full sister Droopys Dazzle for the myracing.com greyhound syndicate. He launched himself on to the scene back in July 2017 when he ran a close second to Roxholme Nidge in the William Hill Puppy Plate final at Newcastle. Since then he’s finished second in the Puppy Classic and won the All England Cup for connections. He’s had his problems and they have been well publicised in the past but he heads into this competition in the form of his life. He was second in the Steel City Cup final a month ago, finishing infront of antepost favourite Droopys Verve. Since then he’s won a decent race at Sheffield by over six lengths and clocked two very nice trials here. We think that if he can get through a tricky first heat tonight and really get a foothold into this competition he could go all the way.

Forest Jason 20/1

There isn’t much form to look at from this young dog but his Irish times stand up to scrutiny. He clocked a fast 28.40 at Newbridge on the 18th January, which is still the fastest time of the year there. That effort sounded him out at as a very good dog and he was subsequently sold to the UK. He has since ran once was at Sheffield and he destroyed a good field over 480m clocking a fast 27.57. He’s had two trials at Shawfield and shown large amounts of improvement and with more to come from this young dog he could be a real force in this competition.

Jaguar Jack 80/1

Jaguar Jack has seemingly flown under the radar at a decent price. His most recent trial of 29.61 isn’t a lot to shout about but you only have to go back to December when he ran a really quick 29.10 around here. An effort of that quality would put him bang there with the main players in the antepost market. He was last seen beaten by Nadurra Dutch at Sheffield by just over a length when drawn completely wrong. When you consider that dog is trading at around the 10/1 mark for this competition it truly shows how Jack has seemingly been forgotten. He’s got track form and he’s a lovely price, if he was to to go deep into this competition he could really go close for backers.

Droopys Davy 12/1

Droopys Davy was the talking dog of 2018 and was singled out as the main Irish hope for the English Derby after landing the Kirby at Limerick in fine style. Unfortunately in the first round he fell out of the boxes and as we all know if you trap from six at Towcester and you miss it you’re in for a tough time. Since then he’s done connections proud finishing a second in the Irish Derby plate and third in the Easter Cup. He will need to overcome a tricky first heat but if he was to get rolling in this competition he’d be a huge player as the final dice were rolled.
