Peter & Michael Bowen have first ever runner at Killarney on Saturday

Welsh-based training partnership Peter & Michael Bowen are well able to set up a horse for a nice handicap, and it has to be hugely interesting that they will send one horse on the 548-mile round trip to Killarney Racecourse on Saturday. Let’s take a look at the horse in more detail below, but you can also find all of our free horse racing tips on the website too.

5.25 Killarney

Francky Du Berlais will take his chance in the Listed handicap chase at Killarney over 2m5f on Saturday and the talented John Glesson will be aboard claiming 5lb in the saddle. Gleeson already rode a bumper winner for Joseph O’Brien at Killarney this week, and the Bowen runner is not out of the reckoning here after a fine fifth in the Galway Blazers Handicap Chase when last seen.

This horse is versatile with regard to ground but probably wouldn’t want it too soft so conditions should be ideal if it stays the way it is now which is good with a bit of good to yielding in places. He hasn’t won a race since winning the Summer Plate at Market Rasen in the summer of 2022 but he is effectively 18lb lower here if you factor in Gleeson’s claim.

It has been a long time between winning drinks for Francky Du Berlais but he might have another big pot in him despite shoving on in years. This is the Bowen’s first ever runner at Killarney and they wouldn’t send him all the way there unless they thought he could hit the frame so he has a chance.
