Paul Nicholls has a 50% strike-rate at Stratford this season and runs one on Thursday

Stratford has been a happy hunting ground for 14-time champion trainer so far this season, as his strike-rate at the track is an impressive 50 per cent. It could be worth noting that he’s due to have just one runner there on Thursday.

Nicholls doesn’t have too many runners in selling hurdles either, which makes the horse in question even more interesting. We’ll take a look at his chances below to see if victory could be on the agenda. Have a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.35 Stratford

Fame And Fun is capable of winning at this level but his form this summer has been a little regressive. He unseated in a chase at Worcester in August, which clearly impacted his confidence as he jumped poorly there next time.

Returning to hurdles at Wincanton over an extended 2m5f earlier this month, he was disappointing and faded badly after the second last. The drop back in trip should suit on that evidence as a sharp 2m4f is probably his limit and the extra furlong or so wouldn’t have helped.

The yard’s runners have struggled in the last couple of weeks but Quebecois was a nice winner on Tuesday. Fame and Fun has been on the go all summer however and the drop in grade should provide a good opportunity.

This son of Fame And Glory was a game winner of a chase at Plumpton with Bryony Frost on board back in March. A two-time winner over hurdles, he scored comfortably off a mark of 103 back in April 2023 and if producing a similar effort here, Nicholls’ seven-year-old would surely be in the mix.
