Patrick Mullins has a particularly good record at some of Britain’s smaller tracks but is yet to ride at Wincanton. That could be about to change however as he’s set to head over to the Somerset track for one ride on Thursday. The horse in question is trained by Harry Derham and the pair are unlikely to have combined many times in the past. Here we take a detailed look at the horse’s chances and what the main dangers could be. Why not check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
No No Tango is making his first start for the Derham yard here, having recently joined from Charlie Longsdon. This very lightly raced seven-year-old has had just six starts over hurdles and one over fences. Yet to get off the mark, he has finished second a couple of times and his overall form suggests winning at this level isn’t beyond him.
It’s very possible that he needed the run when fourth on his first start over fences at Hereford last month and we should see a stronger finishing effort this time around. Connections will be hoping to take advantage of the fact that his chase mark is 4lb lower than his hurdles one.
Derham has had three winners in the last fortnight and that includes success in a valuable handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse over the weekend. Jamie Snowden’s Climbing looks a threat, after winning well at Kempton, and Venetia Williams is in excellent form, so Hunter Legend shouldn’t be ruled out.
Mullins is a busy man and it’s unlikely that he’s going over for a nice day out. There are seven British tracks at which he has a 100 per cent record, can No No Tango make it eight at Wincanton?
