New Year’s Day Outsiders: Three big ones to follow at Cheltenham on Monday

Adrian Wall is back with his weekly feast of ITV Racing Outsiders and he has picked out three horses who should outrun their large odds on Monday. Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips for the day too, and remember, always bet responsibly.

1.30 Cheltenham

THE WOLF jumped terribly when fifth of 13 runners on his seasonal reappearance here at this track last month, but he did well to finish as close as he did and is worth another chance. Clearly a risky proposition because of his tendency to plough through a fence or two, he is a classy sort when he can put it all together, evident when bolting up at Perth in April. I’m surprised to see him open such a large price for this assignment and I’d expect him to go off much shorter than 18/1 at the off.

2.05 Cheltenham

Local trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies is usually good for a winner at Cheltenham and although running from 8lb out of the handicap, TORN AND FRAYED is not to be discounted. This horse won a big handicap chase over course and distance last January and will receive nearly two stone from the favourite, Stage Star. He should go better than his price suggests.

2.40 Cheltenham

Mel Rowley does very well with her small string and MY BOBBY DAZZLER should give a good account of himself in the 3m handicap hurdle. One of his best career performances came when winning by 21 lengths on heavy ground at Aintree in December 2021, and he ran well on testing ground when last seen. A pound lower, he can run a good race.
