‘Mullins doesn’t come here often’ – Four Irish raiders for a Lucky 15 on Friday

All-weather racing takes centre stage on Friday and the best of the action comes from Newcastle but the supporting card from Lingfield isn’t to be missed either. The excellent prize money has drawn the attention of some of the Irish trainers and there are quite a few raiders coming across. We’ve put the four most intriguing candidates into a Lucky 15 and all the selections have significant chances. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.15 Newcastle

Andab was a smart juvenile last term and performed admirably behind Albert Einstein in the Marble Hill and was fourth in the Coventry Stakes. Joseph O’Brien’s colt returned to winning ways in a Listed contest at Dundalk and his narrow second in Qatar on seasonal debut suggests he has trained on.

2.25 Newcastle

Carolina Jetstream has been in very good form since joining this yard and is chasing a hat-trick here, having won her last two starts by just shy of a length. Equally as effective over 7f or a mile, the uphill finish won’t be an issue and an extra 4lb shouldn’t be too damaging to her chances.

3.35 Newcastle

Sir Les Patterson represents the Stephen Thorne yard and he has an excellent record on the all-weather. This son of Zoustar has won five of his eight starts on artificial surfaces and that includes successes in each of his last two. He’s running off a big weight here but could run well.

4.10 Newcastle

Gaucher hails from the Willie Mullins yard and he doesn’t send runners over to Newcastle very often. He has absolutely bolted up in his last two starts at Dundalk over the winter and should still be ahead of the handicapper. Billy Loughnane takes the ride and another big run is anticipated.
