Monster gamble alert: Killarney runner backed into 6-1 from 50-1 on Monday 🚨

It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the markets, as they often provide a sense of the level of confidence behind a horse. Although there are never any guarantees, when a horse is well-backed it does suggest that there is a belief that the bookmakers have got the price wrong. Ireland loves a big gamble and there’s yet another underway at Killarney on Monday.

One horse which was available at 50-1 on Sunday evening is now as short as 6-1. With form figures of 090 so far this season, significant improvement will be required. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

6.20 Killarney

Louis Le Broc is the subject of this monster gamble and he’s trained by Curragh-based handler Darren Bunyan. His form figures so far this season don’t inspire much confidence but someone somewhere is expecting big things from this three-year-old. It’s possible that he’s still finding his way in handicap company and may not be fully exposed just yet.

Bunyan’s charge has had just three starts in handicap company so far and despite the fact that he hasn’t been competitive, the handicapper is responding appropriately. Finishing a well-beaten 11th of 16 at Cork over 7f last time out, the handicapper dropped him 6lb, which could be significant. It’s also worth noting that he didn’t have the smoothest of passages through that day and may have finished closer.

The return to a mile may well suit and he hasn’t tried this trip since finished behind a useful O’Brien horse in a Leopardstown maiden last October. His pedigree certainly suggests a mile isn’t beyond him and there could be more to come.
