Monday’s racing: Sir Mark Prescott stat, Irish raiders and jockey going for a hat-trick

We take a look at the key news, stats and facts for Monday’s horse racing, including a Sir Mark Prescott runner who could be up to the job at Ffos Las.

Sir Mark Prescott stat

Home Secretary (5.22 Ffos Las) may be of interest to many out there as Sir Mark Prescott has a 26% strike-rate with horses running over 1m2f or further. The son of Galiway was well beaten on his handicap debut on return at Windsor but it’s still early days and he drops down in grade here.

Trainer to follow at Pontefract

Michael and David Easterby have won three of the last four runnings of the opening 1m2f amateur riders’ handicap (2.30) and Shimmering Sands could extend that fabulous record. The gelding went three years without winning but got back on track when landing a C&D handicap three weeks ago, racing keenly but getting up on the post. A 4lb rise is fair.

Irish raiders at Stratford

Adrian Sexton is double handed at Stratford on Monday. Katherine takes her chance in the 2m handicap hurdle. She was poor over fences last time but has a chance judged on her fourth in a mares’ hurdle at Listowel last month. Shark Hanlon also runs Pahlavi in the contest but he has plenty to prove. Sexton’s final runner is Shing Shilla in the closing 2m mares’ handicap hurdle, but the longstanding maiden will need a career-best to land this more than likely.

Jockey bidding for hat-trick at Windsor

Oisin Murphy is bidding for three wins on the spin in the 6f handicap at Windsor (7.00) and Regal Envoy is the runner in question. He landed his third 5f course win when winning under Murphy three weeks ago but also has form over this trip and everything looks set for a massive run yet again here.
