Adrian Wall goes over all of the interesting stats and facts for Monday’s racing, including a rare Shark Hanlon runner at Brighton.
Hello Garda (7.05 Brighton) has offered little in three Irish maidens but is still worth noting in a weak 1m4f classified event. He ran in a strong maiden on debut in October, a race that has thrown up a Royal Ascot winner, and may improve on his first crack at this trip.
Clifford Lee has a perfect 100% record at Catterick this year with a total of 2-2 and he has four rides at the track on Monday. Minzelle has major claims in the opening 5f fillies’ maiden. Karl Burke’s runner was third on debut over 6f at Haydock and she will appreciate the drop in trip. She cost a pretty penny too.
Riviera Queen has a solid chance in the 6f handicap as she still has few miles on the clock, while Yorkshire Queen won’t have to improve a whole lot on her last time out effort to score in the 7f fillies’ handicap.
Lee’s final ride is aboard Philip Kirby’s Misemerald in the closing 7f handicap. She has won since her juvenile days but looks very nicely treated here and will be of interest if the money comes.
Paddy Twomey has an exceptional strike-rate at many tracks but it’s particularly impressive at Ballinrobe, where he has an 80% strike-rate in his career, eight winners from just 10 runners and also a second to go along with it!
His sole representative on the card on Monday is Deressa in the closing 1m5f fillies’ handicap. Formerly with Dermot Weld, she was having her first run for the yard when well down the field on handicap debut at the Curragh last month and would be no surprise to see money come for her now.
