Trainer Karl Burke has a brilliant record with his youngsters and he certainly knows how to get them ready for the job on debut, so it has to be of interest that Lattassh has been backed off the boards for the 7f novice with Clifford Lee booked for the ride.
This Footstepsinthesand colt only cost 25,000 guineas as a yearling so he wasn’t an expensive purchase, but he has a decent pedigree being a Brother to 6f-1m winner Wannacry, while his dam was a winner up to 1m1f and won over 7f as a juvenile.
What’s more intriguing about the gamble is the fact they have to take on a Juddmonte horse who could be above average. Leadman is a well bred son of Kingman who chased home the Group 1-placed Epictetus on debut last year. He disappointed when sent off favourite twice since, but before this gamble unfolded this looked like a great opportunity for him on his return.
Clearly someone at the Burke yard thinks this horse is good enough to beat Leadman so let’s see how it all unfolds.
