Major market mover: Aidan O’Brien runner 12/1 from 33/1 on Irish Derby day

It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the betting markets as you can learn plenty from doing so. We always keep you updated with our daily market movers and sometimes there are runners that deserve special attention. This is the case on Sunday as it’s Irish Derby Day at the Curragh and an Aidan O’Brien runner has been well backed on Sunday morning.

The horse in question was as big as 33/1 on Saturday but sustained support has seen its price slashed into just 12/1. Why not check out our Irish Derby preview and our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

3.25 Curragh

Master Of The Hunt started his career with a very promising third to Group 1-winning stablemate Henry Longfellow. With that in mind, it’s a little disappointing that he didn’t get off the mark until the sixth time of asking. It has to be said that he was an impressive winner of his maiden at Gowran last time out but this is a much tougher task.

An official rating of 90 leaves him with plenty to find here but it’s always dangerous to rule out an O’Brien runner. Ryan Moore has gone with stablemate Mundi here so that very much suggests that Wayne Lordan’s mount is the yard’s second-string. A big run could be on the cards here but we’ll surely need to see more if he’s to come out on top.

Our free tip for this race takes on Master Of The Hunt and she has also been well backed. We advised her at 5/2 and 1/1 is the best price on offer at time of writing.

The Aga Khan’s Azada will find this much easier than her latest assignment when sixth to Fallen Angel in the Irish 1,000 Guineas over track and trip last time. That was just her second start and there should be more to come.
