Sea Legend makes his debut for the Jim Goldie yard here, after leaving Donald McCain’s. This son of Sea The Stars had a short hurdling career for previous connections and managed to finish second on the last of his three starts in that sphere.
He was never in the race when a disappointing sixth here over an extended 1m4f last time out and the return to 1m2f should be in his favour. Another positive is the fact that the handicapper has dropped him 3lb since and he now looks very well treated on his best form.
Goldie’s four-year-old was an impressive winner over course and distance for James Fanshawe back in May and he pulled nicely clear to score by two-and-a-quarter-lengths. Coming off a 2lb higher mark, if he can produce a similar performance here a big run can’t be ruled out.
Rebecca Menzies’ King Chaos bolted up in a novice at Southwell in December and is surely of interest on handicap debut. Cusack is in good form and will be bidding to complete a hat-trick but the lightly raced Creatif is also one to watch.
