Unfortunately the weather has claimed both of the scheduled jumps meetings on Monday. We do have three all-weather meetings to look forward to however. We’ve selected three outsiders that could bring the heat at Lingfield. These three runners may have snuck under the radar and could outrun their prices. Cappananty Con (14-1, bet365) hasn’t won for a while but the handicapper is beginning to slowly relent. Well beaten over course and distance last time out which is a concern but the handicapper has dropped him 1lb for that run. It’s possible he was in need of a break and having not been seen for over three months, he should be nice and fresh. On the evidence of his length-and-a-half fifth off 59 over course and distance two starts ago, he can run into a place or better off 3lb lower.
Despite the fact that Quartet (16-1, bet365) has shown little in three starts so far, it could be premature to write her off. She makes her handicap debut here off a mark of 46 and it couldn’t really be any lower. You would be justified in expecting a little more in a poor race at Brighton when last seen but all hope isn’t lost. Having been off since June, she may well have improved over that time and handicaps should suit. This filly is still learning the job and deserves another chance.
Sunset In Paris (66-1, bet365) ran pretty well at a huge price on his penultimate start at Kempton over 7f. He finished sixth but was only four lengths behind a very short-priced favourite. That made his handicap debut at the same track over a mile next time a little perplexing. Beating only one rival home, he lost by 11 lengths. The handicapper subsequently dropped him 3lb which can only help his cause. Hopefully that would have been a good learning experience for the horse and we can expect improvement here. If settling better this time around and progressing, he could outrun this mammoth price.
