Kingman gelding smashed in from double-figure prices to favourite at Lingfield

3.10 Lingfield

This is a competitive Class 6 handicap for horses rated 0-65. It is certainly not laced with quality but a gamble can be more telling in a race of this nature. Often you see horses lurking on very low marks when they are showing much more than their mark at home. This could be the case for Henry Spiller’s Legende D’Art, a really well bred four-year-old Kingman colt.

Legende D’Art has been backed from an overnight price of 11-1 all the way into 9-2 favourite at the time of writing this piece. He is as short as 3-1 in places and is the current favourite. That would have taken a fair chunk of money to do that. He had his first run since January at Yarmouth this month and ran a respectable 5th over the 7f off a mark of 65.

Now dropped two pounds in the weights for that effort, he is entitled to strip much sharper for that effort. This is only the second time that he will have run on fast ground so that has to be a slight concern but connections or somebody at least is expecting a huge run and the 9-2 might not last much longer too.
