King George verdict: Liam Headd thinks O’Brien horse is overlooked at 18-1 😱

‘Returning to 1m4f can only be a help’

I think this race will set up perfectly for Mishriff. Ryan Moore won’t be allowed an easy time on the front end like he did at Royal Ascot aboard Broome with Pyledriver in the field, and if they push each other early it’s likely to go to a closer. Giving weight to the three-year-olds won’t be easy, but Mishriff was just a neck away from doing so when a fast finishing second to Vadeni in the Coral-Eclipse. On that evidence, returning to 1m4f can only be a help for this multiple Group 1 winner and I expect him to go close. – Harry Wilson

‘His trainer has a very good record in this contest’

The fact that Aidan O’Brien has entered course and distance winner Broome into the race suggests to me that his six-year-old has what it takes to make all the running. Despite a slow start, and being drawn out wide in stall seven in the Hardwicke at the royal meeting, Ryan Moore once again found the right tune as the pair looked very comfortable. His trainer has a very good record in this contest and Broome has proved that he can go on any ground too. He also has 11 starts over this distance so this experience can be used to his advantage.

‘I envisage he will be much closer to the pace’

I will be taking the lads on with Emily Upjohn myself. She was desperately unlucky to shed her unbeaten tag in the Oaks, losing out to Tuesday in a head bob. Given too much to do on the day by Dettori, I envisage he will be much closer to the pace here and this extremely well bred daughter of Sea The Stars will be hard to beat receiving weight from the boys.
