Newcastle has been a happy hunting ground for Karl Burke in the early days of 2025, as both of his runners there were winners. It’s been a good start to the new year for him in general, judging by his current strike-rate, and that makes his one runner at Newcastle on Tuesday worth looking out for.
There’s also another trainer defending an unbeaten course record in 2025 with one runner tomorrow which we’ll also have a close look at. You can also check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Aram makes her debut for Karl Burke here, having made the switch from Ahmed bin Harmash and she hasn’t been seen for 319 days. The four-year-old wasn’t beaten far in a 6f handicap at Meydan in February and that performance was the lightly raced sort’s best effort to date.
Karl Burke is operating at a strike-rate of 50 per cent in the last fortnight and that certainly bodes well for her chances. Five winners from 10 runners is no mean feat but it’s hard to know what to expect from Aram, on her first start in Britain.
Ben Haslam’s progressive five-year-old William Dewhirst looks like the one they all have to beat but Burke’s filly is an unknown quantity and could well be a surprise package.
Ireland-based trainer Natalia Lupini has two winners from her two runners so far this year and both of them have come at Dundalk. Cousin Shay was one of those and he’ll be looking to extend his trainer’s unbeaten record under a 7lb penalty.
The extra weight probably wouldn’t have stopped him when scoring four days ago as he did it in good style, with plenty in hand.
