James Owen has a 71% strike-rate at Sedgefield so check out his Thursday runners

Dual-purpose trainer James Owen is still relatively new to the training ranks but his profile grows with every season. He has already trained 60 winners in this National Hunt sphere and has managed to do so at a very healthy strike-rate. Sedgefield has been a happy hunting ground for him so far this season, as he he’s had five winners from seven runners, which equates to a strike-rate of 71 per cent.

12.50 Sedgefield

Sassified is a four-time winner over hurdles and the most recent of those successes came at Newton Abbot in June. The seven-year-old only joined this yard in October but disappointed in one starts over hurdles and one on the Flat. The handicapper has dropped him 2lb since his last hurdles run however and he should be very competitive.

1.24 Sedgefield

Owen tends to do very well in the juvenile hurdle division and Stardrop managed to finish second in his first couple of starts over hurdles. He might have a bit to prove after a very below-par display at Warwick last time out, but if returning to the level of his Stratford run in October, a big run could be on the cards.

3.40 Sedgefield

No More Bolero came very close to winning on the Flat at Chester in September, when finishing second by a neck. He was a respectable fourth over hurdles at Fontwell in August and his best form suggests he’s capable of going close off this sort of mark.
