Tuesday was a good day for our ITV Outsiders as we tipped the winner of the Welsh Grand National at 33-1, with the horse going off at 16-1. There’s a quality meeting at Newbury on Saturday which features a Grade 1 event. Liam Bramall is back with four more contenders who could be overpriced. These include 33-1, 25-1, 22-1 and 16-1 tips. Earth Company (16-1, bet365) was a little disappointing over course and distance on chase debut last month. He did however, shape as if he needed the run which suggests we could be in for a much better performance this time around. Won a couple of hurdle races and will win his fair share of chases if improving for the larger obstacles. It’s hard to ever be sure with a Phillip Hobbs runner but at this price, it could be worth taking a punt.
Bothwell Bridge (25-1, bet365) returns to hurdles here which is a blessing, based on recent evidence. Nicky Henderson’s charge won on chase debut at Sandown last season but has failed to complete in four starts since. His penultimate hurdles start resulted in a 39-length victory in a Hereford novice which suggests winning a handicap off 131 is doable with a return to form.
Almazhar Garde‘s (33-1, bet365) last win came off a mark of 133 at Kelso last April. It was an impressive performance, scoring by 11 lengths. He now finds himself on a 1lb lower mark which bodes well for his chances. This trip should suit and he’s been provided with a good opportunity to return to form.
Thomas Mor (22-1, William Hill) steps up into Grade 1 company off the back of a hugely impressive performance last time out. He beat a Paul Nicholls-trained hurdling debutant by a massive 57 lengths. On that evidence, he deserves a crack at this level and is thoroughly unexposed. Two from two over hurdles so far and he could be anything.
