It’s Day 4 of Glorious Goodwood on Friday and there’s another absorbing day of action to enjoy. ITV will be showing the first four races live and all four look very competitive. This means there will be loads of runners and plenty of each-way opportunities. With this in mind, we’ve selected three outsiders at big prices which could substantially outrun their odds. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Winterwatch (33-1, bet365) finished sixth in the Northumberland Vase at Newcastle when last seen and has subsequently been dropped 2lb by the handicapper. His sole victory on the turf came on soft ground, which bodes well for his chances here. Harry Fry’s charge wasn’t beaten far when second in a 2m3f handicap hurdle back in October which suggests this trip might suit. Currently rated just 4lb higher than his last winning mark, he could run a cracker here.
Al Mubhir (22-1, William Hill) isn’t the most consistent but he has a solid record when conditions are testing. William Haggas’ four-year-old has run on soft or heavy ground three times, winning twice. That certainly bodes well for his chances here and the return to handicap company should suit. He was a bit disappointing in Listed company last time out but he certainly has the ability to run a big race.
Nymphadora (20-1, bet365) has a 50 per cent record on soft ground and she won a very competitive handicap at Chester on soft earlier this season. She was a smooth winner of a Listed race at York last time out, which may have been a career-best effort. Further improvement will be needed now upped to Group 2 level but she may well cope with the conditions better than most.
