Course form is an important factor to consider when trying to pick out a winner. No two tracks are the same and horses will therefore run better at some than others. With this in mind, we’ve picked out three runners at Newbury and Newmarket with proven records at their respective tracks on Saturday. You can easily follow all three tips as they will be shown live on ITV. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Action Point was victorious in a course and distance Listed race in October, providing him with a 100 per cent strike-rate at the track. Connections will be hoping the conditions stay on the quicker side as he struggled on very soft ground last time and his win here came on good. The official ratings indicate that he doesn’t have loads of improvement to find and his best form suggests he can be competitive.
Quinault was sensational last season, winning seven times and completing a six-timer. Two of those victories came here at Newmarket and he consequently boasts an unbeaten record on the Rowley Mile. He started his last spring campaign on a 43lb lower mark and life will be harder now but his proven track record will give him an advantage.
Witch Hunter is understandably a big price for the day’s big Group 1 but the five-year-old is yet to finish outside of the first two in two starts at Newbury. He won the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes here by a length back in August and the third won a Group 3 easily next time. The son of Siyouni will need to bounce back from an underwhelming display when last seen but if he’s going to run a big race at this level, Newbury would be the place to do it.
