Group 1-winning trainer Roger Teal isn’t blessed with a wealth of exceptional talent in his yard but one horse in particular could be special. It could be all systems go for the Derby after the horse’s excellent second in the French 2000 Guineas. The trainer had plenty to say about his talented colt and it’s fair to say that expectations are high. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Dancing Gemini is the horse in question and Epsom could well be on the agenda next. The trainer said: “I see what this horse can do in the morning and if anyone has got better than me then fair play, they’ve got bloody nice horses.” Confidence is clearly very high and Teal has been very vocal in his support of this useful three-year-old.
We could have a supercar on our hands and judging by his trainer’s comments. Teal added: “You always know when you’ve got one, they’re a little bit different. It’s a bit like driving a BMW and then getting in a Ferrari – they’re both capable of going very fast but the Ferrari will kick on a bit more in the end.”
The son of Camelot’s next target hinged on a racecourse gallop at Epsom on Tuesday. He said: “We’re undecided on which Derby to go for at the moment but we’ll let him have a feel of Epsom, see what we think and we can make a decision after that.” Connections are reported to be delighted with the gallop which could mean Epsom is his next stop. Teal said: “We’re gonna roll our sleeves up and come here. He looked good coming down the hill and handled the track beautifully.”
