‘It will be hard work’ – Four heavy ground horses form Punchestown Lucky 15 ☔

Conditions are set to be very testing at Punchestown on Sunday which means it will be hard work to get through the ground. This wouldn’t be to every horse’s liking and with that in mind, we’ve picked out four runners with proven records on heavy ground and combined them into a Lucky 15. 12.45 Punchestown

Three Card Brag attempts to get off the mark over fences at the second time of asking. Gordon Elliott’s charge was a smart novice hurdler last season and was second to subsequent Grade 1 runner-up Corbetts Cross on chase debut at Fairyhouse last time out. Improvement is expected and he shouldn’t find it to difficult to get the win in this company.

1.15 Punchestown

Where It All Began has only won once and that victory came on heavy ground. Also finishing second twice on this ground, he’s clearly at home in testing conditions. He’s beginning to come down the weights and and a return to form may well be on cards here.

2.15 Punchestown

Thedevilscoachman is unbeaten in three starts on heavy ground and he can maintain his record here. His last run over hurdles resulted in a Grade 2 victory in the 2022 Boyne Hurdle and a repeat of that effort would give him every chance. Also a dual-Grade 3 winner over fences, Noel Meade’s gelding possesses plenty of ability.

2.45 Punchestown

Dancing Jeremy has won twice on heavy and that should give him an edge here. James Fahey’s eight-year-old was an easy winner here on his penultimate start and the second and third have both boosted the form by winning since. Third here last time out, he should be capable of running a big race once again.
