We are guaranteed pretty heavy conditions at Chepstow Racecourse on Tuesday so it is important to look for horses with proven form on heavy ground to find some value. We take a look at three horses who should relish these conditions on Tuesday, and best of luck if you have a play. Remember to check out our free horse racing tips on the website.
Just the eight runners are set to go to post for the opening conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle over just shy of 2m4f, and a horse who loves the ground and runs off a nice weight is Dancing Harry. A winner on debut on the Flat over a mile at Newbury in 2019, that was on heavy ground and he is now down to a career low hurdling mark so can make his presence felt.
Jane Williams’ Castelfort has a progressive profile and although he has only raced twice, both starts have been on heavy ground. Second to Balboa on debut, a horse who was second in a Grade 2 here over Christmas, Castelfort went one better when scoring in the mud at Sandown in December, and the remote third has since bolted up so give the form a nice boost.
Leissieres Express didn’t impress much over hurdles but the first time he encountered heavy ground was when last seen at Exeter over fences on New Year’s Day, where he won impressively. Up 5lb for that, there will be more on his plate here but he s still unexposed over larger obstacles and he is also unexposed on testing ground so there should be more to come.
