‘I fancy she’ll do it in March’ – Owner confident his horse will brush Constitution Hill aside 🏆

We all saw Constitution Hill’s demolition job in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle on Saturday. It was a monstrous performance  which would frighten most connections. With Nicky Henderson’s history and how short Constitution Hill is, you’d want that price that he runs! One owner isn’t put off one bit by Henderson’s star and is confident his horse will get the job done. The confidence he has in his horse is undoubtedly justified. ‘I wouldn’t say she can’t win it; I think she’ll win it’

Kenny Alexander is the outspoken owner of super-mare Honeysuckle and he’s convinced that the two-time champion will come out on top. Unbeaten in 16 races, you can completely understand her owner’s confidence in her ability. Alexander said: ‘I wouldn’t say she can’t win it; I think she’ll win it, Henry thinks she’ll win it and Rachael thinks she’ll win it.’ Having won the last two Champion Hurdles, she hasn’t received the respect she deserves since the emergence of Constitution Hill.

Honeysuckle is set to make her usual seasonal reappearance in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Sunday. It’s fully expected that she’ll turn up to Cheltenham with her record intact ready for the fight of her life.

‘I still fancy she’ll do it in March’

Despite his unwavering confidence in his star mare, Alexander is under no illusions about the task she faces. The owner added: ‘He’s obviously very good and Nicky Henderson called him a freak, and he’s had plenty of good horses so he should know what he’s talking about. But our horse is pretty special as well and I still fancy she’ll do it in March.’ One thing is for certain, if all goes to plan, we have a mouth-watering clash of epic proportions to look forward to on Day 1 of the Festival.
