Horses for courses: Four track specialists to follow across Britain on Friday

There are many factors that you need to consider when trying to pick out winners and previous course form is an important one. Horses are all individuals and are therefore likely to perform better at certain tracks than others. We’ve got you covered and have picked out four horses running on Friday that have proven records at their respective tracks. This should give them a significant advantage and that’s sometimes all you need. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.45 Yarmouth

Anif  has been in excellent form of late and the 10-year-old will be attempting to pull off a hat-trick of course wins. One of those successes came over this trip in May and he got the job done at substantial odds of 40/1. Unsurprisingly he was a much shorter price when following up over 7f earlier this month. Life will be harder off a 6lb higher mark but he surely won’t give up his 100 per cent course record without a fight.

3.05 Cartmel

Jelski is a four-time course winner and is well set to make it five here. Representing local trainer James Moffatt, the yard is always worth following at Cartmel and jockey Charlotte Jones rarely leaves without a winner. The 10-year-old is currently rated just 1lb higher than when winning here in July and another big run could be on the cards.

4.40 Yarmouth

Priscilla’s Wish possesses an outstanding record at Yarmouth, with seven wins and four placed efforts in just 13 starts. She finished second here in May and her most recent course success came over this trip in June 2023. Philip McBride’s mare is well handicapped on that form, as her current mark is 5lb lower, and she’s entitled to run another big race.

5.25 Newcastle

Brazen Bolt is a bit of an outsider according to the market but his good course record suggests he may have been overlooked. This son of Brazen Beau is a four-time course winner and a successful stint in Bahrain over the winter has caused a substantial rise in the weights. John & Sean Quinn’s gelding will be refreshed after a break and a return to form shouldn’t be ruled out.
