‘His price looks huge’ – Aintree Day 3 outsiders include an 80/1 Grand National tip

We’ve been treated to some excellent racing throughout the Aintree Festival this week and it concludes on Saturday. The main event is the Grand National, for which a full field of 34 has been declared, and you won’t want to miss it. You can also check out our preview for the big race here.

There are loads of each-way opportunities to be had across Aintree’s seven-race card on Day 3 so Liam Bramall has picked out three outsiders who can outrun their odds, including a massive 80/1 shot in the Grand National. Wade Out (25/1, bet365) represents the Olly Murphy yard and he has been useful in novice chases this season. He was a comfortable winner of a Listed contest at Cheltenham in November and managed to beat the smart Wendigo at Worcester before that. Rated 7lb lower over hurdles, it would be no surprise to see him take full advantage here.

Bad (25/1, Boylesports) isn’t always the most reliable but is a useful handicapper on his day. Ben Pauling’s seven-year-old was a a good second in a decent race at Ascot in January and currently finds himself on a 1lb lower mark. Perhaps the step up in trip can facilitate some improvement.

The Real Whacker (80/1, bet365) won the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham as a novice chaser and the 10-year-old has also won the Charlie Hall in the past. Connections have been running him over hurdles, probably to protect his mark, and he’s entitled to run well off a mark of 151. His price looks huge.
