Even at the pinnacle of the Cheltenham Festival, there are shocks to be had. Just last season, Jeff Kidder produced an 80-1 stunner in the Boodles for example. There are 28 races on offer over the four days and we will have Cheltenham Festival Tips for every single one of them as well as multiples. On top of that, there is the usual multitude of offers and free bets from the bookmakers to make the most of your four days.
It never ceases to amaze how short some memories are. Flash back twelve months and Not So Sleepy was fifth in the Champion Hurdle at 125-1, missing out on a place by just two and a half lengths. He is a 100-1 this time and it’s fair to say that his current price is an insult.
We only need to go back to the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle in November to find him dead heating with Epatante who at time of writing is 10-1 for the Champion Hurdle. Admittedly, he was a long way behind that old foe in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton but the fractions were wrong from an early stage.
He arrived fresh last season in the same way that he does this time around and the ground should have enough juice in it for him to be seen at his best. Of course, he has a lot to do to reverse the places with Honeysuckle but should he be ten times the price of a horse he has already dead heated with this year? Absolutely not!
