It has been a profitable winter abroad for Shadwell’s retained rider, Jim Crowley. Globetrotting Crowley is winning races all over the world and won a monster £750,000 prize pot in Saudi Arabia last week. He returned to Britain to ride one at Wolverhampton on Monday and the horse scored in good style. Crowley has had just seven rides in Britain so far this season, with an impressive haul of four winners. The veteran jockey travels to Kempton on Wednesday for just one mount.

Ring Of Gold has been pretty consistent recently. This has caused him to shoot up the handicap to a mark of 72. Michael and David Easterby’s gelding has been on a mark this high since his three-year-old days. Despite that, he continues to run his race admirably.
His last victory came over course and distance four starts ago, scoring by a length-and-a-quarter, off a mark of 67. The gelding was denied by just three-quarters-of-a-length when second off a 1lb lower mark at Southwell in January. Abnaa won that race and has boosted his own form by winning again two starts later.
In the form of his life right now, Ring Of Gold has maintained his consistency over the last few months. It was an excellent effort to finish fourth by just over a length, over course and distance last time out. Having missed the break, he came out of nowhere to almost take third on the line. A quicker start here could see him return to the winners’ enclosure, especially with Jim Crowley on his back.
