Galvin is the subject of Jamie Codd’s confidence and he goes in the Cross Country Chase. A unique test, the Cross Country is rather like marmite for horses. Some horses take to it really well and others tend to struggle. Codd is convinced that Galvin will take to it well. He said: “He seems in good form. I schooled him last week and he was good. He’s a classy horse and he has a chance on the drying ground.”
Galvin is a class act on his day and won the Grade 1 Savills Chase last season. Gordon Elliott’s gelding has also won a National Hunt Chase over 3m6f which guarantees his stamina for this race. Things haven’t quite gone to plan this season but this kind of test could reignite his spark.
Codd also made reference to the fact that connections have altered his training, he added: “He went back to a pre-training yard and a did a bit of dressage and all that.” This sort of unique training method can rejuvenate horses and if taking to the Cross Country course, Codd believes he can win it. He said: “He’s way good enough to win it. Galvin is there for a reason and he definitely has a great chance.”
