‘He’s a smashing prospect’ – Liam Bramall’s Grand National Festival best bet

Aintree’s Grand National Festival is fast approaching and the three-day extravaganza is set to kick off on Thursday. There is plenty of awesome action to look forward to, with no fewer than 10 Grade 1 races taking place.

Liam Bramall is particularly keen on the chances of one horse at Aintree, which could provide Paul Nicholls with a welcome prize money boost. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing, where we’ll also provide a tip for every race at Aintree.

Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle

Plenty is expected of Kalif Du Berlais and he has emerged victorious in all three of his starts to date. The first of those came in France and he was privately purchased off the back of that very commanding performance.

Part-owner John Hales is never shy when he rates one of his highly and this horse is expected to be a Gold Cup contender further down the line. The son of Masked Marvel has shown plenty of ability already and won the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton when last seen.

He had more in hand than the winning margin suggests and Paul Nicholls’ gelding would have learnt plenty from that experience. Connections missed Cheltenham in order to come here and similar tactics worked wonders with Monmiral back in 2021.

Sir Gino and Kargese should ensure that his toughest test to date but there should be more to come from him. The fact that this race is his primary target and not an afterthought could be a significant advantage and he’s a smashing prospect for the future.
