‘He’s a shrewd operator’ – 203/1 Irish raiders treble at Doncaster on Thursday

Doncaster’s St Leger Festival gets underway on Thursday and that means Britain’s final Classic of the season will soon be upon us. We have an excellent eight-race card to look forward to on Day 1 and the great racing has attracted some Irish interest. There are several Irish raiders to watch out for so we’ve combined three of the most interesting into a tasty treble. We’ve been in good form recently so you might want to check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 Doncaster

Brussels (7/2, Betfred) got the better of a stablemate when winning on debut and the next three horses home have all won since. It was a fair effort when fourth in the July Stakes next time and he kept on well despite being outpaced. Aidan O’Brien’s colt also finished second in Listed company last time and is the one to beat on all known form.

2.25 Doncaster

Sugar Island (11/2, Betfred) is a Ballydoyle homebred and she won over 7f on debut at the Curragh. Showing a good attitude, that performance indicates that the step up to a mile will suit. She was disappointing in Group 3 company next time but the daughter of Dubawi is surely capable of better.

3.00 Doncaster

Elana Osario (6/1, Betfred) represents the Paddy Twomey yard and he’s a shrewd operator. He’s not one to send a horse over for no reason and she’s progressing well. Twomey’s filly was a game winner of a Group 3 contest last time out and this appears to be the next logical step. Ease in the ground won’t be a problem and the new trip should suit.
