‘Her potential is limitless’ – 52/1 ITV horses for courses treble at Newmarket

Racing returns to Newmarket on Tuesday and the going is officially described as good to firm on the Rowley Mile. The track can often be difficult for some horses to handle, especially with the pronounced dip, so it often pays to side with those who have proven records at the track.

Woodhay Wonder (15/2, bet365) is unbeaten in three starts on the Rowley Mile and absolutely has to go in the notebook on that evidence. Tom Ward’s filly won a similarly competitive three-year-old handicap at this meeting last year, over this very trip, and is likely to be suited by the return to handicaps. A consistent record combined with a love for the track makes her an interesting contender.

One of those successes came in this very race last year and he should prove hard to beat once again. Fitness won’t be an issue as he’s been on the go in Meydan over the winter and it’ll take a smart performance to get the better of him.

Verse Of Love (6/4, bet365) absolutely bolted up in a course and distance maiden back in October and she looked very special that day. Her potential is limitless really and we’re sure to learn plenty about her here. Charlie Appleby’s three-year-old faces a sharp step up in grade here but she’ll need to run a big race in order to establish herself firmly in the 1000 Guineas picture.
