Henrietta Knight is best known for training the three-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate, who won the race in consecutive years between 2002 and 2004. Her last runner whilst operating under a full licence came in 2012 and she’s set to return at Wincanton on Friday. Zettabyte had a somewhat patchy record for Gordon Elliott and was last seen pulling up in a handicap chase at Fairyhouse. The seven-year-old was a fair second over 2m3f at Downpatrick before that and this shows us he possesses ability. Knight has opted to send him back over hurdles, Which could help to boost his confidence if successful. 2m4f looks like a sensible trip and he’s not without a chance here. His form in Irish points suggests he possesses the ability to win races under rules.
Ballywalter won an Irish point on heavy ground by 15 lengths in October. That performance came off the back of a 533-day absence and you can therefore see why Henrietta Knight was interested. His pedigree all screams stamina, which makes this three-mile maiden hurdle a good starting point. You would imagine this is a staying handicap chaser in the making but the soft ground should suit and he could surprise a few by running a big race here. One thing is for sure, this lad will have deeper stamina reserves than most of the runners in this race.
