Ballygeary was a big eyecatcher in the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso when last seen, short of room when trying to challenge two hurdles from home. That cost him all momentum and he had to settle for seventh, but he’s effectively 4lb lighter here taking the jockey’s claim into account and the four time hurdles scorer can get back on track.
The Skeltons have had a brilliant few weeks and clean up on Saturdays of late so with that in mind Martha Brae looks overpriced. She ran an excellent race when third to Botox Has in a Grade 2 over course and distance in February, and a repeat of that would bring her right into contention here. She is far from the most reliable but the price has that factored in and she’s worth a little investment at juicy odds for us.
Francky Du Berlais won the Summer Plate at Market Rasen in 2022 and was runner-up in the Cross Country handicap at Cheltenham in December. He has a very patchy profile but he’s capable of running a big race and he’s running off the same mark he ran off when second in that Cheltenham contest. He might have been in need of the run when disappointing at Kempton when last seen, but he has won on heavy ground in the past.
