Sean Bowen is having yet another fine campaign thus far and has been riding plenty of winners. One of the best in the weighing room at the moment, he’ll be looking to win some of the big races over the festive period. It could therefore be significant that he’s swerving Kempton’s King George card on Boxing Day to ride one at Aintree.
Olly Murphy has indicated that Bowen is a big fan of the horse in question and he’ll be going for Grade 1 glory. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing, or perhaps our greyhound tips for dog racing enthusiasts.
Junker d’Allier has made an excellent start to his hurdling career and the €105,000 purchase has won both starts of timber thus far. He’s set for a steep step up in class but if the trainer’s comments are anything to go by, jockey Sean Bowen is very confident.
Murphy said: “Junker D’Allier is one we’re looking forward to in the Grade 1 race at Aintree. He’s progressed well and won his two starts well albeit in fairly low company. Sean thinks the world of him, so he was very keen to have a crack at that race.”
Runner-up in three bumper starts, the son of Kapgarde went one better in good style at Carlisle on seasonal debut and whilst he form is a bit of a mixed bag, the fifth has come out and won since. Murphy’s five-year-old was even better under a penalty at Bangor after that and they had to step him up sooner or later. We’ll know more when we find out his opposition but clearly connections are raring to go.
